The IDL would grade stones with its Color Meter, a state-of-the-art spectrograph. IDL grading reports will be based on Gemological Institute of America (GIA) standards, including the GIA’s patented cut grade. The turn-around time for a report would be 48 hours, and it can be tracked while it is being prepared.
Apart from a hard copy, a digital report in English or Arabic language, will also be sent, which will include images of the inclusions and other features of the clarity grade. IDL has trained 20 Filipino girls to manually grade certificates for a clarity grade, and also to give an SI-3 grade.
The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) appointed Peter Meeus and his team to develop Dubai into a world hub for gems and jewellery. The team has implemented this plan with the launch of International Diamond Laboratories (IDL) in Dubai. This lab is unique as it would be the only lab to grade colored stones across the globe.
