Rs. 636 cr to be invested in Odisha gem, jewellery park by Gitanjali

Gitanjali Infratech Ltd., of Mumbai-based Gitanjali Group has announced that it will set up gem & jewellery park worth approx Rs. 636 cr at Ramdaspur near Cuttack in Odisha.

The first gems & jewellery park in Odisha, it will be built over 100 acres of land. The plan was approved by the State Government on Friday Evening.

Sanjeev Chopra, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Odisha, said to The Hindu, “ “This park will include processing technologies for cutting and polishing diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones, manufacturing of gold, silver, platinum and imitation jewellery. This park will create largescale employment.”

30.80 acres will be allotted for Gitanjali’s own units while the remaining will be leased out to diamond polishing and other jewellery manufacturing units. Also, 20 plots will be allotted for other players in the industry with an inclusion of MSME units.

This project is believed to generate employment opportunities for over 15,000 people in the course of 7 years.
