The Council’s Jaipur regional office hosted Shri. Prannoy Sharma, DDG (IR & GB) and Secretary, Postal Services Board, Department of Post, Ministry of Communication, Government of India, who visited the pink city on 19th November, 2020, for understanding the feasibility of small-value cross-border e-commerce shipments through India Post.

The GJEPC arranged factory visits for Shri. Sharma in SEZ Phase I & II, and EPIP Gems and Jewellery Zone of Sitapura Industrial Area of Jaipur where more than 100 units of gemstones and jewellery are operational.

A meeting of Shri. Sharma and other Department of Post officials accompanying him, was arranged at the IIGJ campus, with all the stakeholders, including Regional Manager of RIICO (Developer of Jaipur SEZ), SEZ Customs, and Trade members in attendance. Shri. Nirmal Kumar Bardiya, Regional Chairman, GJEPC, welcomed all the officials from the Department of Post.

The trade requested Shri. Sharma to offer cost-effective logistics for e-commerce shipments with end-to-end trackability and fast delivery, in the same manner as China Post, which has helped its exporters to dominate the e-commerce arena worldwide.

Shri. Sharma informed that the automation of export-related processes was on the anvil, after which data from the India Post servers will be shared with various servers, including ICEGATE, EDPMS and DGFT, on a real-time basis, thereby facilitating exports.
