GIA India organised its first-ever virtual graduation ceremony for the first two batches of the SWIFT Jewellery Design Course – Remote Learning. The two batches had commenced on June 28, 2021, with 12 students.

The virtual ceremony was addressed by Sriram Natarajan, Managing Director of GIA India. GIA Instructor Sajiri Barve shared some of the jewellery design sketches created by the students during the course. Apoorva Deshingkar, Sr. Director, Sales; Manoj Singhania, Director, Education and Barve also interacted with the students. The graduation ceremony concluded with the handover of GIA credentials and students sharing their learning experiences.

“It’s heartening to see the overwhelming response we received for the first two batches of the remote learning programme. The SWIFT Jewellery Design Course was just the beginning,” said Singhania. “The students – a mix of professionals and entrepreneurs from the gem and jewellery industry, as well as other spheres of life – have been exceptional. I wish them all the best for their future,” he added.

Speaking at the virtual event, Natarajan said, “GIA education is known to prepare students for their onward journey in the gem and jewellery industry. Today’s graduation ceremony for the first two batches of SWIFT Jewellery Design Course – Remote Learning marks the beginning of that journey. I’m glad these students made the most important decision to empower themselves with knowledge, and we’re proud to have trained them.”

One of the students, Aparna Dubey, Founder of Jewels by Aparna Dubey, shared her experience. “I enrolled for the GIA SWIFT Jewellery Design Course – Remote Learning to develop an in-depth understanding in jewellery designing. The overall course commitment was much more than my expectations. GIA’s technology support and teaching methodology was nothing less than a classroom experience. The 10-day course was completely worth my time and it has really helped enhance my skills.”

Another student, Vishesh Jain of Tarash Gems & Tarash Jewels, added, “Enrolling in the GIA SWIFT Jewellery Design – Remote Learning course was the perfect decision for me due to the current COVID-19 situation. The course was well-designed allowing me enough time to learn from any location, without disturbing my work schedule. Since I belong to this industry, this course has definitely helped me to explore newer facets and more insights on the gemstone and industry as a whole.”

Expressing her excitement, Sakshi Keshri, Proprietor, Artemis Pink, said, “GIA’s SWIFT Jewellery Design Course – Remote Learning was the first online experience for me and it was extremely satisfactory. The GIA team provided great support and the sessions were interactive, as our instructor provided the necessary knowledge and more. I gained thorough insights to help me create one-of-a-kind designs and learn how trends work in the gem and jewellery industry.”
