Yet another milestone is achieved by Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India or GJSCI as it inaugurates another Skill Training Centre dedicated to skill the rural and tribal youth in Dharampur. Dharampur is a town in Valsad district of Gujarat. Alongside the increasing development in urban industries and small businesses, the employment and skill-training of rural youth too plays a crucial role in the development of India’s rural landscape. Shrimad Rajchandra Skill Development Centre or SRSDC has been playing a pivotal role in empowering, training, and providing economic freedom to rural youth since several years. This Centre in the remote belt of South Gujarat has improved the employability of hundreds of rural youth by offering them short-term, market-linked vocational training at no cost. The next step in this journey of empowering the rural and tribal youth of Dharampur is the introduction of a replete, computer-based course in Jewellery Designing - CAD, the first-of-its-kind for rural youth in this region.

This collaboration between Shrimad Rajchandra Skill Development Centre and Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India with the ardent support of Industry Partners will provide training to the students in jewellery design - CAD, from training and teaching soft skills to assistance with job placements. Under the expertise of professional instructors, this 3-month course will train the rural students to design jewellery using the CAD Software. A dedicated and well equipped computer lab has been set up by GJSCI to provide a hands-on training experience. The computer lab was inaugurated on September 13, in the presence of Abhay Jasani, President Shrimad Rajachandra Mission, Sanjay Kothari, Chairman, GJSCI, Vasant Mehta, Chairman IIGJ, Mumbai, Shishir Nevatia, Director, GJSCI.

M/s. Cascade Star has agreed to donate the imported CAD software of Matrix Gold for training purposes. This initiative will effectively combat the challenges faced by the rural boys and girls, who would often migrate to farther regions in search of menial jobs, or be deprived of employment due to lack of skills. Moreover, this course will not only open up avenues for the rural students, but also benefit the industry with fresh talent from local regions. This initiative would further foster a culture of learning for rural youth, eventually leading to entrepreneurial careers.
