Reportedly, Gem and jewellery manufacturers and bullion traders in Ahmedabad are discussing whether to set up an industrial park in the city, dedicated to gems and jewellery. %% Industry observers believe that the development of a jewellery park in the city could benefit jewellers, bullion traders and diamond polishing units in Ahmedabad, Rajkot and north Gujarat. %% Jewellery associations are also planning to set up a jewellery trade centre in Ahmedabad to make it easy for overseas buyers to source product directly from the city. Although the new gem and jewellery park in Surat has attracted many, observers say a big drawback is Surat’s lack of infrastructure. Ahmedabad, on the other hand, has advantages in terms of an international airport and better road connectivity.
