The International Institute of Gemology (IIG) has launched Diamond Fundamentals, a new educational resource aimed at presenting diamond knowledge through a storytelling-based format. The book has been conceived and authored by Rahul Desai, CEO and Managing Director of IIG.

Unlike conventional gemological texts, the publication approaches diamond education from the perspective of a learner. Desai has structured the content to simplify technical concepts by framing them through narrative-based explanations, with the objective of improving comprehension and retention.

The official launch took place at the premises of Hari Krishna Exports in Ichhapore. The venue was selected in view of its standing within the global diamond manufacturing sector. The book includes a foreword by Shri Savji Dholakia, founder of Hari Krishna Exports. The launch was conducted by Shri Tulsibhai Dholakia, in the presence of Brijesh Dholakia.

In his foreword, Savji Dholakia notes that storytelling is increasingly being used as a method of learning and engagement, particularly for younger audiences who may find data-heavy formats less accessible.

Commenting on the initiative, Rahul Desai stated that storytelling has traditionally played a role in knowledge transfer and continues to be relevant in modern education. He added that the format was developed to address shorter attention spans and evolving learning preferences among students entering the diamond industry.

According to IIG, Diamond Fundamentals is available in physical and audio formats. The institute has also announced plans to expand the initiative through a podcast series and a self-paced learning course, extending the content across multiple platforms.
