Day two of IIJS Bharat Signature 2026 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC), NESCO, Goregaon, Mumbai, was marked by the formal inauguration of the venue, and new collection launches focused on lightweight gold jewellery.
The second day of IIJS Bharat Signature 2026 commenced with the inauguration at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC), NESCO, Goregaon, Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by the Guests of Honour, Arun Narayan, CEO of the Jewellery Division at Tanishq, and Neeraj Agarwal, Ambassador Designate of India to Mauritania (West Africa).
Senior leadership of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) present at the event included Kirit Bhansali, Chairman; Shaunak Parikh, Vice Chairman; Nirav Bhansali; and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director.
Addressing attendees, Bhansali spoke about India’s evolving role in the worldwide jewellery ecosystem, with emphasis on transparency and global alignment. “This is a strong global announcement of India’s commitment to responsible sourcing, ethical trade and transparency. Through India’s standards, we have introduced clear and globally aligned diamond terminology, giving consumers clarity across natural and laboratory-grown diamonds. Together, these steps signal that transparency and consumer confidence are central to India’s global jewellery strategy,” he said.
He further highlighted the impact of trade agreements on market access, adding, “This leadership is translating into stronger global access, supported by free trade agreements. FTAs with the UAE, Australia, AFTA countries, the UK, and, more recently, Oman and New Zealand, are improving competitiveness. From our sources, we have learned that the FTA with the European Union is on the verge of finalization, and will add significant value to our sector.”
On the show floor, Mehta Gold launched its new temple jewellery collection, Mehta Air, presented by Sandeep Mehta, and inaugurated by Narayan. The collection features extremely lightweight gold temple jewellery, with pieces capable of floating on water. Commenting on the launch, Mehta said, “With Mehta Air, our focus was to create traditional temple jewellery that feels exceptionally light, while retaining its gold craftsmanship, offering comfort and usability for today’s customer.”
KanakRatna also introduced a new 14K precious gold jewellery collection, developed in collaboration with Italian designers. Presented by Vikram Jain, the range features lightweight, colourful, and contemporary designs aimed at Indian retailers navigating higher gold prices. Jain noted, “Given the rise in gold prices, this collection has been designed to support our retail partners with 14K gold jewellery that is lightweight, design-led, and commercially viable.”
With steady buyer interest, institutional participation, and product-led engagement, day two of IIJS Bharat Signature 2026 continued to reinforce the show’s relevance as a key trade platform for the domestic and international jewellery industry.
