Botswana and Angola Join WFDB as Nation Affiliate Members

At the WFDB International Summit in Gaborone, Botswana and Angola joined as Nation Affiliate Members, strengthening engagement between producing nations, trading centres and the global natural diamond manufacturing industry.

The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) concluded its International Summit in Gaborone, Botswana, bringing together government representatives, industry leaders and stakeholders from across the natural diamond value chain. Held in collaboration with Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy under the theme “Nation-Building and the Future of Responsible Luxury”, the summit focused on provenance, beneficiation, transparency, sustainability and value creation across producing nations and trading centres.

During the summit, Botswana and Angola joined the WFDB as Nation Affiliate Members, expanding the federation’s international representation and strengthening engagement between diamond-producing countries and the global manufacturing community.

Representing the Indian diamond industry at the summit, Mehul Shah, Vice President of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), presented the official Bharat Diamond Bourse postal stamp, released by the Department of Posts, Government of India, to Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy, Republic of Botswana. According to the statement, the minister expressed appreciation during the presentation and reiterated Botswana’s relationship with India.

Commenting on the development, Shah said, “I am very happy that Botswana and Angola have joined the WFDB as Nation Affiliated Members, broadening the Federation’s international representation and deepening engagement between producing countries and the global manufacturing community. It was also a pleasure to meet Minister of Minerals and Energy Kenewendo and present her the Bharat Diamond Bourse Stamp.”

The summit also examined the long-term positioning of natural diamonds amid changing market dynamics and evolving consumer expectations, with discussions aimed at reinforcing consumer confidence in the category.
