The 23rd IGI D Show, held in Goa from June 11–13, brought together 45 manufacturers and more than 180 retailers, focusing on certified jewellery sourcing, technology adoption and trade collaboration.
The International Gemological Institute (IGI) concluded the 23rd edition of the IGI D Show at Taj Cidade de Goa, Panjim, on June 13, following a three-day buyer-seller event held from June 11–13 under the theme Blueprint of Brilliance.
The event brought together 45 diamond manufacturers and more than 180 retailers from across India. Participating retail companies included Senco Gold & Diamonds, JOS Alukkas and Reva Diamonds by PNG, alongside manufacturers showcasing certified diamond jewellery collections across multiple product categories.
According to IGI, the exhibition served as a platform for retailers to source certified collections and engage directly with manufacturers, while exhibitors presented new designs and product ranges to trade buyers.
The institute also highlighted its Metal Quality Check (Metal QC) service, which evaluates finished jewellery for workmanship, wearability, surface finish, functionality, stone settings, plating consistency, weight and dimensions, and stamping or engraving clarity. The assessment is intended to help manufacturers and retailers identify visible and functional issues before products reach consumers.
Commenting on the event, Tehmasp Printer, Managing Director and Global CEO of IGI, said, “The IGI D Show has always been about elevating the quality of business and relationships within our industry, and this edition was no different. ‘Blueprint of Brilliance’ was not just a theme; it was a reflection of the ambition and vision that every participant brought to Goa. We are proud to provide a platform where India’s best manufacturers and retailers come together not just to transact, but to grow, innovate, and set the direction for the years ahead.”
A new feature at this year’s edition was a virtual reality (VR) experience presenting a “mines-to-market” journey designed to demonstrate the application of immersive technology in jewellery retail. Printer said, “The introduction of VR gives retailers a practical competitive edge and signals the future of immersive jewelry retail experiences. We believe this is just the beginning of how immersive technology will redefine the jewelry retail experience.”
Retail participants highlighted sourcing opportunities and supplier engagement at the event. Suvankar Sen, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Senco Gold & Diamonds, said the show provided access to certified collections and strengthened sourcing partnerships. Varghese Alukka, Managing Director of JOS Alukkas, stated that the platform enabled retailers to connect with trusted manufacturers and IGI-certified collections. Mitesh Dusara, Head of Merchandising at Reliance Jewels, noted that the VR initiative demonstrated the potential of digital tools to enhance customer engagement.
The event also included a tribute ceremony recognizing Ashok Minawala, Chairman Founder, GJC; K. Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director, Emerald Industries; and Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, for their contributions to India’s gem and jewellery sector. In his remarks, Minawala said platforms such as the IGI D Show create opportunities through collaboration between manufacturers and retailers. Bhansali added that the industry’s continued focus on certified and quality jewellery reflects the direction of the market.
