De Beers and Sotheby’s will conclude their 2026 international high jewellery auction collaboration with a final sale in New York, bringing to a close a series of auctions that also included events in Hong Kong and Geneva.

The New York auction will feature a curated selection of natural diamonds, including two pear-shaped D-colour diamond rings and an 11.33-carat old-mine brilliant-cut D-colour Type IIa diamond. According to the organizers, the sale reflects the culmination of a cross-continental auction programme showcasing rare natural diamonds.

Earlier auctions in Hong Kong featured a 3.03-carat pear-shaped diamond ring, a pair of brilliant-cut diamond earrings totalling 4.01 carats and the 28.88-carat De Beers Jwaneng 28.8, a D-colour flawless Type IIa diamond. The Geneva sale included a 1.10-carat light pink oval-cut diamond, a 1.06-carat very light pink diamond and a matched pair of 18.38-carat brilliant-round diamonds, one graded flawless and the other internally flawless.

The companies stated that consumer purchasing patterns continue to evolve, with diamonds increasingly being acquired as expressions of individuality in addition to adornment or investment. The release noted that nearly half of global diamond purchases are now made by women buying for themselves, indicating a shift in ownership trends. A portion of the proceeds from the auction series will be directed to Peace Parks, supporting landscapes and communities linked to natural diamond-producing regions.

For the jewellery industry, the collaboration highlights continued interest in exceptional natural diamonds across international markets while reinforcing the role of provenance, rarity and craftsmanship in the high-value segment. The New York sale marks the final chapter of the 2026 De Beers–Sotheby’s partnership spanning Asia, Europe and North America.
