The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organized a networking meet in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on July 14 as part of its trade delegation to Central Asia, aimed at strengthening commercial ties and creating new export opportunities for the Indian gem and jewellery industry.

The event brought together Indian exporters and representatives from Uzbekistan's jewellery trade, including importers, wholesalers, retailers and other industry stakeholders. The meeting provided a platform for business discussions, market insights and networking opportunities to facilitate future collaborations between companies from the two countries.

The Tashkent networking programme forms part of GJEPC's broader outreach to Central Asia, with the delegation also scheduled to visit the Kyrgyz Republic and Kazakhstan to engage with local trade communities and assess emerging market opportunities for Indian manufacturers and exporters. The initiative reflects the Council's ongoing efforts to diversify export destinations and strengthen India's presence in high-potential international markets.

The visit follows earlier engagements between GJEPC and the Government of Uzbekistan to enhance bilateral cooperation in the gem and jewellery sector. Earlier this year, discussions between GJEPC representatives and Uzbekistan's Ambassador to India explored avenues for increasing trade, promoting business exchanges and encouraging greater participation between industry stakeholders from both countries.

Through the networking meet, Indian exporters gained an opportunity to understand market requirements, consumer preferences and business practices in Uzbekistan while establishing direct contacts with prospective buyers and trade partners. The initiative is expected to support long-term commercial relationships and contribute to expanding India's gem and jewellery exports to the Central Asian region.
