Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sends Message for IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a message for IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026, highlighting the Indian gem and jewellery sector's global growth ahead of the exhibition in Mumbai this August.

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has received a special message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 42nd edition of IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026, recognising the Indian gem and jewellery industry's contribution to the country's economy and its growing international presence.

In his message, the Prime Minister noted the evolution of IIJS into an international trade platform. He said, “It is encouraging to learn about the 42nd edition of the Indian International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere organised by Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in Mumbai. It is particularly heartening to note that this event is growing into a vibrant global platform, attracting visitors and gems and jewellery enthusiasts from across the world.”

Referring to the industry's strengths, he stated, “India's gems and jewellery industry reflects the country's rich civilisational heritage, artistic excellence and entrepreneurial spirit. The GJEPC has consistently worked towards promoting the industry and expanding its export potential.”

The Prime Minister also outlined the Government's focus on strengthening the sector through policy measures. “Our Government is committed to positioning India as a global hub for design, manufacturing and trade in the gems and jewellery sector. Targeted policy measures include boosting MSMEs, indigenous manufacturing of lab-grown diamonds, enhancing Ease of Doing Business through improved access to finance, promoting digital adoption and encouraging skill development.”

He further highlighted the importance of encouraging young entrepreneurs and said the industry's future lies in fostering innovation, fresh ideas and leadership. The message also referred to the opportunities presented by the Viksit Bharat initiative and acknowledged GJEPC's publication of a special edition of Solitaire International magazine to mark the occasion.

IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 will be held at the Jio World Convention Centre from August 5–9 and at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Goregaon, from August 6–10, 2026.
