The Pink City of India, Jaipur, also India’s hub for gems, precious stones and jewellery, faced a series of bomb explosions yesterday. Six blasts triggered off in succession, within 15 minutes, in various busy areas of the city. The prominent Johri Bazar, the jewellery market of Jaipur, was one amongst the target spots of the blast series. At 7:30pm a blast occurred at National Handloom, Johri Bazar, which reported two deaths and many casualties. %% Johri Bazar was a backdrop to the city’s rich cultural heritage. It has been a tourist attraction for those visiting the city, enamouring locals and visiting foreigners, by the rich traditional craftsmanship in gems and jewellery, which reflects the aura of the Rajputs - the royal dynasty of Rajasthan. %% Henceforth, Johri Bazar will also become one of historical significance, as a survivor of bomb attacks. The other five bomb explosions in Jaipur occurred at Manak Chowk, Badi Chaupad, Sanganeri Gate, Tripolia Market, Chandpole, while three other bombs were diffused. The government is taking all steps to investigate the matter. At present, Jaipur is under curfew.
