Gemfields Resources Plc, on its path to being the leader in gemstone sourcing, cutting and polishing, has opened its cutting and polishing facility in Jaipur, India. It already owns the world’s largest emerald mines, and with this portfolio, the company claims itself to be the only such company delivering high grade, ethically produced, conflict-free and certified emeralds, from mine to the market and on an integrated basis. %% The facility in Jaipur is a two-storeyed structure built over 4,300 sq ft., Around 30 professionals are currently employed in the factory. Initially, the works carried out at the Jaipur facility will be of low grade goods, and in course of time, as the infrastructure is strengthened, high grade rough emeralds from Gemfields’ Kagem mine in Zambia will be processed here. %% The mandate of operating the facility has been placed with Rajendra Koolwal, who has a 20-year experience in the cutting and polishing industry. He is appointed as head of processing and has been assisting in layout of the facility, selecting the equipment and delivering works in a cost effective and timely manner. %% Pallinghurst Resources is a 55 percent stakeholder in Gemfields through its subsidiary.
