Alrosa is likely to report a 1.1 percent drop in its rough diamond sales in 2008. The sales are estimated to value at $2.76 billion. Although, the company is hopeful of reporting a 0.6 percent increase in its sale of polished diamonds, estimated to value at $157.2 million. The company’s diamond production is likely to dip by 1.7 percent to $2.33 billion in 2008. %% The global economic crunch has affected the company’s activities, as it reduced its production to face the dip in demand for roughs. It held its last rough diamond auction in September 2008.
