Saffronart, the first auction house for fine jewels in India held its spring auction on 15-16 April. The auction has achieved a total sale of Rs 1.48 crores. Sixty-seven were sold out. At the same time, the auction also attracted 40 percent first-time bidders from across the world. %% The top selling lots include a five-strand natural pearl necklace which was bought for Rs 13 lakhs, a suite of ruby and diamond jewellery which sold for Rs 8.25 lakhs and an emerald and diamond necklace that was picked up for Rs 6.32 lakhs . At the same time, a diamond and tanzanite bracelet found buyers at Rs 6.09 lakhs, a pair of tanzanite, emerald and diamond ear pendants was bought for Rs 5.94 lakhs, while a pair of diamond flower ear clips was acquired for Rs 5.75 lakhs. %% Last year in October 2008, the auction house held its inaugural auction, when it sold 56 lots and generated sales worth INR 6.36 crore(US$ 1.27 million).
