Mines Management India Limited, a subsidiary of an American multinational has discovered diamonds in the riverbed near Jaggaiahpet in Krishna district, reports suggest. This is the first time since Indian independence, that a private company reported discovering diamonds in the Krishna river basin. %% Reports further suggest that the location of discovery is close to the locations that is believed to be the source of the famous Kohinoor and Hope diamonds. The company has completed exploration and is awaiting the Government of India’s approval to begin mining the 25-square km area. %% The company holds a licence for diamond exploration through drilling in said location.
