De Beers optimistic of the mine being a world-class mine by 2011

Kimberly Diamonds’ Ellendale 4 and Ellendale-9 mines produced 385,000 carats of roughs in the first half of the fiscal year 2007. The stones earned an average sales price of $134 per carat.
The total revenues from diamond sales increased from last year’s comparable period, to value at $62.2 million, while it was $35.8 million in the first half of last fiscal. The production cost of the diamonds that were sold amounted to $74.1 million, while a year ago it was $36 million. However, the bottom line, company's losses hiked up to $31.8 million from $13.1 million.
