A seven-member delegation led by Vasant Mehta, Vice Chairman, GJEPC visited China from March11 - 17, 2007. The prime objectives of the visit were to identify the areas for joint ventures and setting up of manufacturing units in India and vice-a-versa, and to enhance the bilateral trade relations and to mark further areas of cooperation. %% The delegation comprised mainly manufacturers and dealers of diamonds and diamond studded jewellery. The delegation toured Panyu & Shenzhen where they visited some factories and a lab supported by the Gem & Jewellery Trade Association of China (GAC). The delegation also visited the Shanghai Diamond Exchange. %% Vasant Mehta made a presentation on the Indian precious Industry and the opportunities that lay in front of India & China. It was attended by 45 dealers/retailers from Shanghai. The presentation served as a platform for the Indian delegates and the Chinese counterparts to throw open their doubts on doing business with each other and to clarify on various aspects of business. %% The delegation visit proved to be fruitful in propelling the bilateral trade relations further. The visit enabled a healthy dialogue with the Government Officials and the wholesalers/manufacturers of China.
