Russian diamond-mining company ALROSA has signed a cooperation agreement with the Federal Environmental, Engineering and Nuclear Supervision Agency (Rostekhnadzor) to collaborate on industrial security, mineral resource and environmental protection. %% Under the agreement, the two sides will work to improve the production process at ALROSA's mining, concentration and cutting facilities in compliance with the norms and rules of environmental, technological, and nuclear supervision. %% The total investment in the project will amount to RUB 189.5 billion ($7.307 billion) by 2015, with RUB 98.6 billion ($98.6 billion) being spent in the first five years, ALROSA President Sergei Vybornov said at the signing ceremony. %% He added that the company's underground mines - Udachny, Aikhal, and Mir - which produce a combined 5.5 million tonnes of kimberlite ore per year, will be commissioned before 2014.
