Women’s Day: Verma Jewellers hosts 'Pride of Himachal' event

The event highlighted the achievements of women pradhans and featured a panel discussion with the them, discussing the challenges faced by them and the difficulties they have overcome over the years

Himachal Pradesh-based Verma Jewellers hosted 'Pride of Himachal' -- a virtual event for women empowerment, which honoured 429 women pradhans of Sirmour, Shimla and Solan districts on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8 2022.

The Chief Guest was the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur, who virtually presided over the event and felicitated women pradhans of the state for their achievements and contributions to the welfare and development of their respective districts. He said that the Government of Himachal Pradesh is committed to ensure that the women of the state are empowered, respected and given their rightful place in society.

The event highlighted the achievements of women pradhans and featured a panel discussion with the them, discussing the challenges faced by them and the difficulties they have overcome over the years.

The event was attended by eminent dignitaries like Rashim Dhar Sood, President, Himachal BJP Mahila Morcha, Monika Bhutungru, SP, Shimla, Daisy Thakur, Chairperson, Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, Prajwal Busta, Member, Himachal State Planning Board, and Niraj Kumari Chandla, Joint Director, Panchayati Raj. It was moderated by Shalini Sharma, Radio Jockey, Big FM.

Akshay Verma, Managing Director, Verma Jewellers, said, "We, at Verma Jewellers, have been at the forefront for providing a platform to women from various walks of life through various initiatives and campaigns like The Golden Bond campaign. The 'Pride of Himachal' is an initiative taken by Verma Jewellers to promote and encourage women empowerment in the state and another step towards creating a brighter future for women in Himachal Pradesh. It was an enriching and humbling experience to share the inspiring stories of all the women pradhans who participated in the event. It was encouraging to witness the resilience and determination of these women from different strata of society, who were able to achieve success through their own efforts. It was a pleasure to be there for them and we look forward to more such interactions in the future. I am grateful to our Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur for gracing the occasion with his presence and adding gravitas to our initiative.”
