48th Gems & Jewellery Awards Conclude on a High Note

Industry revels in joy to celebrate the achievements of 22 deserving participants

The India Gems & Jewellery Awards organised by the GJEPC sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, in association with the World Gold Council, GIA and Co-partnered by Gold Star were held at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on August 3, 2022. The event started with an introduction by the host that mentioned how the gems and jewellery industry was more than 40 billion dollar industry that contributed more than 12% to the GDP of the nation and employing more than 5 million. Colin Shah the Chairman of GJEPC welcomed all to the evening and the IIJS Premiere show that was to begin the next day.

“IIJS has been completely reinvented this year. GJEPC will introduce lab grown category from FY 21-22 onwards,” said Colin Shah, Chairman, GJEPC.PArticipnts were waiting with baited breath fro the winners names to be announced. Kiran Gems bagged four awards - cut & polished diamonds (large), highest turnover, highest taxpayer and innovation in manufacturing. Dhanera Diamonds bagged the award for cut & polished diamonds (medium) while Oopal Diamonds won the award for cut & polished diamonds (small). Gold Star Jewellery won the awards for Precious Metal jewellery (large). RMC Gems won two awards - cut and polished coloured gemstones and cut and polished synthetic stones.

Shivam Jewels won the award “upcoming exporter of the year.” Last but not least, former GJEPC Chairman Praveen Shankar Pandya was bestowed with a Lifetime Achievement award. Chief Guest Anupam Kher appreciated the fact that the trophy carried the Indian Flag, as we are completing 75 years of Independence. Anupam Kher and Sonali Bendre spoke about their favourite jewellery and shared precious moments from their life. The event marks the growth and the success of the gems and jewellery industry of India, it’s strength, resilience and indomitable spirit. .
