After launching its owned stores in UAE Tanishq has partnered with Sharaf for expanding in the Gulf.

Tanishq, one of India's largest gold and jewellery brands, is adopting a "hybrid" approach to expand in the UAE by partnering with Sharaf Retail. The brand's entry into the UAE market was through owned showrooms in Dubai, which has now been extended to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Franchises in the gold and jewellery retail sector are rare, as most stores are owned by the brands themselves.

However, Tanishq prefers to own the first set of outlets in a new region to gain firsthand experience before partnering with local businesses. In the long term, the company plans to own 30% of its outlets and partner with local businesses for the rest.
