Sarin Technologies, which was facing opposition from OGI Systems regards its Israeli patent application No. 138347 entitled "Laser Marking on Diamonds", heaved a sign of relief as the Israeli Patent Registrar rejected the four year long opposition. Zeev Leshem the CEO of Sarin Technologies CEO mentioned, "We are thrilled to see the just end of this prolonged proceeding. Sarin Technologies invests heavily in research and development and must actively protect its intellectual property in order to remain competitive and add value to our customers' businesses and to our shareholders."%%The decision also entitles Sarin Technologies to recover costs and legal fees from OGI Systems. According to Israeli Patents Law, OGI may now appeal to the District Court. "We believe that following the dismissal of OGI Systems' opposition, the patent will be finally granted to Sarin. It will protect, also in Israel, a wide range of our innovative technologies in the field of rough planning and laser-marking products and will put an end to the infringing manufacture and sale, in Israel, of our competitors' products that attempted to reap the success of our best selling products in the DiaMarkâ„¢ family," concluded Leshem.%%Equivalent patents have already been granted to Sarin in the United States and in Belgium. Israel is the headquarters and manufacturing center of both Sarin Technologies and OGI Systems, and the decision of the Patent Registrar is crucial, since, if granted in Israel, Sarin Technologies would be entitled to enforce this patent against all infringers in Israel.
