The landmark parcel, valued at Rs. 7.5 crore, marks a major advancement in streamlining export procedures for the industry.

The seamless operation was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Customs authorities, operational teams, BDB management, Customs House Agents (CHAs), and members of the trade community.

In the new process, the passenger collected the export parcel from a designated airport counter after clearing immigration and was scheduled to board an international flight at 2:00 am on 20th May. The initiative is expected to significantly boost logistical efficiency and reduce export-related bottlenecks.

GJEPC expressed deep appreciation to all stakeholders involved and confirmed that its newly established office at the BDB has been officially notified. A formal government notification appointing BDB as the official custodian for such hand-carried exports is anticipated shortly.

This development is being hailed as a transformative step towards enhancing the ease of doing business in the sector and reinforces India’s positioning as a leading global hub for gems and jewellery exports.
