GIA India Laboratory Pvt. Ltd. has appointed industry veteran Amit Pratihari as its new Managing Director, effective October 1, 2025. He will lead the organisation’s gemological laboratories in Mumbai and Surat, along with the GIA India School in Mumbai, bringing over two decades of expertise in retail, brand management, and the diamond industry.
GIA India Laboratory Pvt. Ltd. has announced the appointment of Amit Pratihari as its new Managing Director. Effective October 1, he will oversee the operations of GIA India’s gemological laboratories in Mumbai and Surat, as well as the GIA India School in Mumbai.
With more than two decades of experience in retail, brand management, and the diamond industry, Pratihari brings a strong track record of leadership and strategic growth. He previously served as Managing Director of De Beers India and Forevermark India, where he was instrumental in expanding the brands across India and the Middle East. His earlier career includes over ten years in consumer-facing retail and brand management.
Industry leaders have expressed confidence that his appointment will further strengthen GIA India’s role as a cornerstone of the global diamond sector, especially as India continues to grow both as a manufacturing hub and a major consumer market.
On taking charge, Pratihari expressed his commitment to building on GIA India’s legacy, highlighting its importance not only to India’s diamond industry but also to the global gem and jewellery landscape.
