The Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG), a jewellery trade association, said that retail jewellery sales during the recently-concluded Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) crossed $272 million (AED1 billion), a 25 per cent increase over initial estimates, according to reports. %% “The jewellery sector has benefited tremendously during this DSF through increased number of shoppers from within and outside the United Arab Emirates (UAE),” said DGJG managing director Tawhid Abdullah. %% Around 350 gold jewellery outlets took part in the shopping festival, which saw one lucky winner walking away with a kilogram of gold on each day, over a span of 45 days.
