The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is representing India’s gem and jewellery sector during the President of India Droupadi Murmu’s state visit to Botswana from 11th to 14th November.

As part of the official Indian delegation, Jayanti Savaliya of Gujarat, GJEPC, is leading a team representing the diamond sector. The delegation includes notable industry leaders: Hitesh Shah of Venus Jewel, Darshak Narola of Shree Ramkrishna Exports, and Brijesh Dholakia of Hari Krishna Exports.

Savaliya and the Indian delegation, led by the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI), received a special invitation to the state dinner hosted by Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, President of Botswana. During the ceremony, the delegation presented President Boko with a handcrafted memento reflecting India’s rich artisanal legacy.

The centrepiece of the gift was designed in the GI-tagged Sadeli marquetry style — renowned for its intricate geometric wood-inlay craftsmanship. This was complemented by traditional metalwork and miniature detailing inspired by India’s gem and jewellery heritage. President Boko lauded the exquisite craftsmanship and cultural essence encapsulated in the artefact.

The broader Indian mission is spearheaded by Nikhil Madrasi, President of SGCCI, following the Botswana Government’s invitation to accompany President Murmu during this high-level engagement.
