PC Jeweller has announced an initiative to support 1,000 traditional goldsmiths in Uttar Pradesh in becoming independent jewellery entrepreneurs, in collaboration with the state government’s CM Yuva Udyami Yojana.

The programme targets goldsmiths certified under the central government’s PM Vishwakarma Scheme, focusing on artisans from rural and semi-urban regions of Uttar Pradesh. The initiative aims to help these craftsmen move from informal livelihood models to structured jewellery businesses.

According to the company, selected goldsmiths will receive assistance across multiple areas, including design orientation, branding, marketing support and access to organised retail practices. The programme will also include training in modern business operations, digital tools and customer engagement, enabling artisans to meet contemporary retail and compliance requirements.

PC Jeweller will provide market linkage support, allowing participating goldsmiths to access wider consumer markets beyond their local geographies. The initiative is expected to help artisans establish independent enterprises, improve income stability and scale their operations within the organised jewellery sector.

The partnership aligns with government efforts to promote entrepreneurship among traditional artisans and strengthen the jewellery manufacturing ecosystem at the grassroots level. It also reflects a growing trend among established jewellery retailers to engage with skill development and decentralised production networks.

Uttar Pradesh is a key centre for traditional jewellery craftsmanship, and the programme is expected to contribute to entrepreneurship development while preserving artisanal skills within the formal jewellery trade.
