De Beers unveiled “Voyage Through the Diamond Realm” at India Art Fair 2026 in New Delhi on February 6. The immersive installation explored the geological origins and cultural narrative of natural diamonds through visual storytelling, scenography and soundscapes.

The presentation followed its debut at Frieze Masters, London in 2025, and marked its India edition in partnership with India Art Fair. The project included a collaboration with contemporary artist Lakshmi Madhavan.

Madhavan’s installation centred on Kasavu, Kerala’s traditional gold-bordered handwoven textile, developed with the Balaramapuram weaving community. The display positioned Kasavu as a human analogue to the diamond, drawing parallels around time, continuity, craftsmanship and transformation.

Shweta Harit of De Beers Group said, “Natural diamonds are among nature’s most extraordinary artworks, formed over billions of years, each one entirely unique. Presenting Voyage Through the Diamond Realm at India Art Fair feels fitting… Our collaboration with artist Lakshmi Madhavan brings together two worlds of creation… while our association with India Art Fair reinforces our belief that art is a powerful lens through which material, heritage and meaning can be reimagined.”

The installation featured four natural-coloured diamonds — Pink, Orange, Light Blue and a Chameleon diamond that temporarily changes colour when heated. A five-carat Forevermark diamond was also displayed, alongside a ring design by a Milan-based team.

Lakshmi Madhavan said, “Created in collaboration with the Balaramapuram Kasavu weaving community, the installation positions Kasavu as a human analogue to the diamond.”

Jaya Asokan, Director, India Art Fair, said the presentation reflected the fair’s commitment to placing natural diamonds within an artistic and cultural framework.
