SMR Jewels Ltd’s Rs 63.74 crore SME initial public offering (IPO) closed for subscription on June 3, with strong participation from qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) contrasting with subdued demand from retail and non-institutional investors. The issue was subscribed approximately 0.37–0.39 times overall at the close of bidding.

According to the latest subscription data, the QIB segment was subscribed 2.35 times, while retail investor participation remained below one time. The non-institutional investor (NII) category also remained undersubscribed, resulting in the overall issue failing to achieve full subscription despite institutional support.

The book-built SME issue comprises a fresh issue of shares along with an offer for sale and is scheduled to list on the BSE SME platform. The IPO was open for subscription from May 26 to June 3, with allotment expected to be finalized shortly after the close of the issue and listing proposed for June 8.

The differentiated subscription pattern highlights continued institutional interest in select jewellery manufacturing businesses seeking access to public capital markets. However, the relatively low participation from retail and high-net-worth investors suggests cautious sentiment towards SME listings amid prevailing market conditions.

SMR Jewels operates in the gems and jewellery sector and is raising funds through the public issue to support its growth plans. Market observers noted that grey market activity remained subdued ahead of the closing day, reflecting a measured response from investors despite the company attracting institutional demand.

The IPO adds to a growing list of jewellery-sector companies accessing India's SME capital markets, underlining the industry's increasing use of public funding avenues to support expansion and operational growth.
