P N Gadgil & Sons has introduced its monthly ‘Dagina Maharashtra-cha’ series, beginning with ‘Waricha Suvarnasaj’, a handcrafted gold creation inspired by Maharashtra’s Wari pilgrimage, unveiled in Pune on July 20.
P N Gadgil & Sons (PNGS) has launched ‘Dagina Maharashtra-cha’ (The Jewel of Maharashtra), a monthly product series featuring handcrafted gold creations inspired by Maharashtra’s cultural, religious and seasonal heritage. The initiative was unveiled in Pune on July 20, 2026, with the first creation, ‘Waricha Suvarnasaj’, paying tribute to the Wari pilgrimage observed during the month of Ashadh.
According to the company, the series will introduce one handcrafted gold masterpiece every month, with each design representing a distinct symbol associated with Maharashtra. Together, the twelve creations are intended to reflect the state's festivals, traditions, history and changing seasons.
The inaugural piece, Waricha Suvarnasaj, incorporates design elements associated with the Wari pilgrimage. Golden beads reference the Tulsi mala traditionally worn by Warkaris, while central motifs represent Vitthal and Rukmini. The design also features green gemstones inspired by the Kaustubh gem and Tulsi leaves, along with forms derived from traditional masoli karnabhushan (fish-shaped ear ornaments) associated with the deities.
Commenting on the launch, Aditya Modak of P N Gadgil & Sons said, “A dagina is never just an ornament; it carries the heritage of a culture and the identity of its land. With 'Dagina Maharashtra-cha', we are attempting something no jewellery house has done before: preserving Maharashtra's story, month by month, in gold. There could be no truer beginning than the Wari because the Wari is not a pilgrimage alone; it is who we are.”
PNGS stated that a new handcrafted creation will be introduced every month as part of the collection. The company said the twelve pieces are intended to form a complete collection representing different aspects of Maharashtra's identity.
Waricha Suvarnasaj is currently on display across PNGS stores in Maharashtra, where customers can view the piece and learn about the inspiration behind its individual design elements. Founded in 1832, PNGS operates 126 points of sale across 65 cities and 21 states, including its jewellery and Gargi by PNGS retail formats.
