Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has called for greater cooperation between the Jaipur Jewellery Association and Yamanashi Jewellery Association to strengthen bilateral trade in gems and jewellery.

Sharma made the proposal during a meeting with a Japanese delegation in Jaipur on August 23, where discussions covered industrial development, investment and opportunities for collaboration between Rajasthan and Japan.

The chief minister said the Rajasthan government is preparing a roadmap for the development of the gems and jewellery sector and other industries. He also highlighted dedicated facilities within the Japanese Zone aimed at providing infrastructure for Japanese companies.

Sharma urged the two jewellery associations to collaborate through technology and investment to expand business and create employment opportunities. He also invited Japanese investors to establish industries in Rajasthan, referring to his 2024 visit to Japan and the returns achieved by Japanese companies investing in the state.

Yuichi Higuchi, Mayor of Kofu City, said around 180 Japanese companies are currently operating in Rajasthan and highlighted the existing links between jewellers in Jaipur and Kofu. According to Higuchi, nearly 60 Jaipur-based companies are operating in Kofu City and jointly participating in the global jewellery business.

The delegation included Kazuo Matsumoto, President of Koshin Company; Chikara Yanagimoto, President of Create Takano Company; Nakaba Shindo, Senior Advisor at Yamanashi Chuo Bank; Tadao Shimura, Vice President of Eigado Company; and Shunichi Hagihara, Kofu City International Relations Division Mayor Office Manager.
