The World Gold Council (WGC) has unveiled the latest chapter of its ongoing The Moment is Gold campaign with a new film, First Diwali, highlighting gold’s evolving role in contemporary celebrations and personal milestones.

Conceptualised by BBDO India, the campaign film follows a young couple celebrating their first Diwali together with their extended family. At the heart of the story is a shared family tradition—a ring worn by every cousin—which becomes a symbolic moment of belonging for the new bride as she embraces her place within the family.

The film builds on the campaign’s broader narrative of positioning gold beyond traditional occasions, while retaining its emotional and cultural relevance. Through the couple’s first Diwali, the campaign presents gold as an expression of love, connection, belonging and new beginnings.

Arti Saxena, Head of Marketing, India, World Gold Council, said the campaign aims to celebrate both the traditional occasions associated with gold and the everyday moments that hold personal significance. She added that as consumers discover new ways to mark milestones, gold continues to evolve as a contemporary expression of aspiration and emotion.

Josy Paul, Chairman & Chief Creative Officer, BBDO India, said the campaign was broadening the way gold is perceived among younger consumers. He highlighted the growing preference among Gen Z and millennials for self-expression, individuality and everyday wearability, adding that the narrative was moving from occasion-led buying towards more spontaneous and personal milestones.

With First Diwali, WGC continues its effort to make gold more relevant to younger consumers while reinforcing its enduring place in India’s celebrations and family traditions.

The campaign is being rolled out across television, digital and OTT platforms, connected TV, social media and print, with WPP Media as the media partner.

The film is available on YouTube, while the campaign is also featured on the Moment is Gold website.
