The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) today held a meeting to announce its business development initiative aimed at the US retail market. GJEPC Diamond Panel convener Bakul Mehta made a presentation, outlining the reasoning behind the project – the need for the production industry and retail market to communicate more directly and understand each other’s perspectives and compulsions. According to Mehta, the idea began germinating some two years ago when he was attending one of the VNU’s successful CEO meetings.%%Structured pretty much like the buyer-seller meet between the Indian industry and the CIS market, the US initiative is slated to be held over October 1 and 2 this year. The GJEPC has invited a slew of retailers from the top 100 list in the US and expects the event to generate conditions that will lead to better business all round.
