The 2007 Kimberley Process Plenary Meeting has elected Namibia as vice chair of the Kimberley Process for 2008, which will allow Namibia to chair the Kimberley Process in 2009. It was also decided that Namibia would host the Kimberley Process Secretariat in 2009. It would be required to coordinate international activities and ensure that applicants interested to become KP members, fulfill the mandated KP requirements. India will take over chairmanship of the process from the European Community in 2008.
