According to a Times of India report, a cargo arriving from the Thai Airways flight from Bangkok, on October 11, was stolen at the Mumbai international airport. The cargo contained 3.5 kg of gold ornaments worth Rs.900,000 ($22,900) and about 70 polished diamonds worth Rs.4.57 crore ($1.16 million). %% An airport official mentioned that this theft was the first of its kind at Mumbai airport. The Times of India newspaper cited unidentified sources as saying that the most of the stolen goods have been recovered. %% The investigations gave different assumptions of what might have happened after the cargo was offloaded. While an anonymous airport source mentioned that the goods were left unattended on the tarmac, the Mumbai police joint commissioner Rakesh Maria said that handlers had placed it in the area meant to store empty containers. The Mumbai police have detained three cargo loaders.
