HRD’s Diamond Office has released the trade figures of Belgium’s import and exports of polished and rough diamonds. Exports of polished diamonds saw a rise of 17% to value at $946.07 million during October, while imports increased by 43% to amount to $1.17 billion in value, and scaled by 90.74% to value at 1.69 million carats in volume. Year-to-date polished exports were up 11% at $8.8 billion, while imports rose 10% to $8.4 billion.%%Rough exports increased in value by 15%, valuing to $972.71 million, and imports were higher by a similar rise of 12% amounting to $986.57 million. But judging by volume, rough exports slipped by 12% to 11.1 million carats and imports by 17% to 12.0 million carats. Year-to-date rough exports were up by 16% to $9.43 billion, and imports by 13% higher at $8.6 billion, in the January to October time period.
