Surat to receive $100 million worth of rough diamonds each month

According to reports by Livemint.com, Delhi is getting ready for a gem and jewellery Special Economic Zone (SEZ), at Baprola, about 12 km from the Delhi international airport. This initiative is being encouraged by the Delhi state government. %% The SEZ, spread over 136 acres of land, will cost between Rs.600 crore and Rs.1,164 crore ($152 million to $295 million). It will be executed by the Delhi State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) in association with a private firm. %% The Delhi government intends to attract diamond, gold and silver jewellery manufacturers and create a zone with facilities such as jewellery centres, exhibition halls, hotels, and commercial & residential complexes.
