The Canadian Jewellers Association (CJA) yesterday announced that the countrys jewellery excise tax has been fully eliminated in the federal budget, effective May 2, 2006. $$“We are delighted that the Conservative government has ended the inequity and confusion inherent in the Excise Tax in the content of Minister Flaherty’s Budget,” Morris Robinson, chairman of CJA’s government relations committee, said in a statement.
