Media sources suggest that the Rapaport Group may soon open a diamond processing hub in Surat, with the intent to expand its base in India. The group has selected Surat as the location considering its potential in diamond cutting for all kinds of diamonds. %% The venture will work at creating a cash market for diamonds in Surat, promoting fair pricing through diamond tenders. Tendering will include a wide variety of diamonds including roughs and inexpensive polished diamonds bearing GIA certification. Rapaport believes trading will be a more popular activity over manufacturing for the diamond industry. The group already has its presence in other gem and jewellery hubs of India.
