GJF discontented with govt's decision to hike import duty on gold.

Government's decision to hike the import duty yet again is set to affect the gem and jewellery sector badly, says Bachraj Bamalwa, President, GJF.

The gem and jewellery industry can learn more on diamond grading at a training programme being organised by the Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC). The programme will be held at PGJDC’s Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Centre (GJTMC) in Lahore and will continue till April 2, 2009. %% The course would share knowledge on grading aspects including hue, cut, and blemishes of diamonds. The programme will be conducted by a graduate gemologist from Gemological Institute of America (GIA), USA Mansoor Usman, and will impart training using state-of-the-art equipments to learn the impartation of modern techniques.
