Of the total number of lots put on sale at the Christie's May 26th Hong Kong jewellery auction, 90 percent of the lots were sold for a value of $33,067,728. An Asian private buyer purchased the top lot, which was a diamond pendant set with two pear-shaped D, flawless type IIa diamonds of 20.70 carats and 10.02 carats. He bought the lot for $3,328,182. Asian buyers were noted to be the prominent buyers at the auction. %% Of the diamonds sold, many of them were bought for more than $1 million. A suite of vivid and intense coloured diamonds, which weighed 14.67 total carats, was bought for $1,886,742; a rectangular-cut D, flawless type IIa diamond of 15.02 carats sold for $1,670,526; a Cartier designed pear-shaped D, internally flawless type IIa diamond of 14.43 carats was bought for $1,598,454. %% Other notable lots included a jadeite double cabochon ring which was bought for $1,310,166.
