There was a 33 percent drop in Israeli’s polished diamond exports during September, amounting to $449.9 million. In terms of volume, polished exports dipped by 26 percent to 247,791 carats, reports say. The average per carat price of a diamond was $1,816, falling by 10 percent, as compared to last year, reports say. %% According to its export markets, $240.2 million worth of polished diamonds were exported to Hong Kong – the largest in September, which reports presume could be due to the Hong Kong Gems and Jewelelry Fair in September. The next highest export market last month was United States, followed by Switzerland and Belgium. The country’s polished diamond imports amounted to $256.7 million, falling 39 percent in the said month. %% Import of rough diamonds dipped 28 percent to $248.9 million in value, although it increased by 3 percent to 1 million carats in volume, reports say. The average price per carat for the rough was $247.1, decreasing by 30 percent. %% Exports of rough diamonds decreased by 36 percent to $163.3 million in the month.
