Sparkle’09, the gem and jewellery show in Surat, India, has witnessed some good response for large solitaires. A Mumbai-based buyer bought a solitaire diamond for Rs 1.5 crore from Ankit Gems. The diamond is a flawless D/IF solitaire weighing 7.01 carat with excellent cut, reports say. %% Reports add that as per the company the stone was one of the expensive diamonds on display at the event. According to reports, the demand for solitaires is high in India and China. The event saw over a dozen inquiries for solitaires above 2 carats. The response at the event has reiterated the fact that Surat is the world's biggest diamond cutting and polishing centre, processing almost 80 per cent of solitaire diamonds and stones above one carat.
