The 8th edition of the Gem & Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE) kicked-off on February, 22, 2012 in Chennai. Mr. K. Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the show. The inaugural speech was given by Jayantilal Chalani, Chairman, MJDMA and Vinod Hayagriv was the special guest for the occasion.%% The show in terms of participation has more than doubled over the last three years. This year the showground saw 225 companies exhibiting their products.%% H.M. Sultan, Secretary of MJDMA says that they have a waiting of many companies and they will further expand this show next year and will be adding over 50 new companies. %% The show is organized by Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchant Association (MJDMA) and UBM India.%% Shamal Pote, UBM India says that they expect around 12,000 visitors to participate in the show which ends on Sunday, 26th Feb, 12. Extending the show duration from 3 days to 4 days gives buyers enough time visit all booths and make their choice in a better way.%% Kiran Vakhariya of Raia Jewels says that Chennai is the hub for Gold Jewellery, they expect good business in coming days and 10-15pc higher business than last year. To cater and support the retailers, they have even opened office in Chennai.%%
