G. V. Sreedhar, Chairman, All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) in his address to the gem and jewellery industry, thanked the industry for their wholehearted support to the Candle March conducted on 18th January 2016, across India. Chairman’s address: “Today was a historic day for the Gems and Jewellery industry. This has been a proud moment for all of us, where we have shown the nation that with dedication and perseverance, anything can be achieved. We stood together as a single force and showed our strength to the entire nation. On behalf of GJF, I would like to thank all the Associations, Jewellers and everyone who was involved in this successful nationwide campaign of a peaceful candle march. The response we garnered that, too, on a very short notice is highly commendable. Let us all continue with this momentum that we have built and keep sending our representations to the FM and PM, and also communicate this issue through various social media platforms. On behalf of GJF, I once again thank each and every one of you for showing the true meaning of 'Unity'. I am confident with the milestones that we have achieved today; our destination is not too far. WE HAVE TO BE UNITED WE ALSO HAVE TO FACE BIGGER CHALLENGE OF GST.” GJF has requested the entire jeweller fraternity to join the Candle March to silently protest against the mandatory PAN card requirement on jewellery purchase of above Rs. 2 lakhs in cash or through card.
