Middle East targets third place in loose diamonds

After having lost out to India, the Middle East is now eyeing to be among the top three regions in sales of loose diamonds. Middle East is currently placed in the fourth position after US, Japan and India.

The Angolan government has authorized a mining joint venture between De Beers, Endiama and Miracel under a resolution that was published in a state gazette dated November 15, 2006, according to reports.%%Angola’s Prime Minister Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos passed the resolution, which outlines various details of the agreement, including research and prospecting rights. The resolution also looks to encourage foreign investments into Angola’s growing mining sector.
