IGC (International Gemological laboratory) India recently came across a case of fake diamond.$$ A Mumbai based couple purchased a gold ring with a 0.80 carat diamond set in it from a famous jewellery showroom in Mumbai. %% The ring was submitted to IGC laboratory for evaluation. The chief gemologist suspected the stone was not a natural diamond. IGC experts at Israel also conformed that the stone was not a natural diamond.
Chief Gemologist, IGC, Mumbai, Mr Arthur Mesropian says, “This is first of its kind case we have ever come across. All we request people is that if they are putting a handsome amount to buy such expensive stuff like jewellery then might as well pay to get it certified. Also blindly accepting what the jeweller says is not correct rather a second opinion is a must.” %% IGC has state of the art equipments and functions as a full service lab for gem and jewellery industry.
